Puppy “Right Paw” Class at Howlistic
Wednesdays at 7:00-8:00pm
6 sessions/open enrollment/$100

Meet, greet, learn lots and make some friends!  Puppies are little sponges that soak up so much in their first few months-make sure you make those weeks count!  Early socialization to people of all kinds, dogs, and things that are in our world is so important in shaping your pup’s view of the world.  We want his perception of the world to be a good one, and if he hasn’t learned that the big, ‘bad’ world is full of different sights and sounds and that’s okay, he may perceive the world and those in it as unfamiliar-and therefore-potentially dangerous.  No, the skateboard is NOT going to eat you!  Learning where to use the potty and what is ok to chew on (and what is not!) are also important things to learn early on.  Class is based on lots of free play to develop those important social skills-both with pups and people!  Sessions are one hour long and open enrollment means you start anytime and are in a class with handlers and pups that are in slightly different levels.  Also, a session or two can be missed without missing any class content-you come as often as you can.

Nosey Dogs Class at Howlistic

Next start date:
May 8th-29th, 2013, 6:00-7:00pm
Teach your dog an exciting new game that lets him do what nature has always intended he do–follow his nose.  We’ll get you started on developing your dog’s natural hunting instincts and teach you how to make this game exciting for your best friend!  A tired dog tends to be a good dog and this activity definitely tires your dog out!

Around the Town Class at Howlistic
4 Sessions  $80
Next Start Date: June 5th, 2013, 6:00-6:45pm.  Times and places are flexible; please email me at jen@pawsitiveencounters.com if you are interested.

This class is for those of you who have attended a class before, or your dog already knows the basics.  We meet in different locations throughout the city, i.e. a cafe, park, mall, playground, hiking trail, etc to work on loose-leash walking, passing by other dogs, settling while you enjoy coffee, leave it, stay and other behaviors.  A fun way to spend some time with your dog and get some refresher tips on working him/her in distracting environments.

Working with an Adolescent  Dog at Howlistic
6 weeks, meets weekly, $100
Next Start Date: TBD
Life with an adolescent dog (ages 6 months-2-3 years depending on breed) can be challenging.  Learn to work with your dog so that both of you are ‘getting what you want’.  Practicing polite greetings, reinforcing a solid recall and settling down in distracting environments are all behaviors covered in class, among others.  It is also a chance for your adolescent to socialize with other dogs-those social skills are developing in ways that might be disturbing!  Education on body language and dog communication is also provided so you may work with your ‘punk’ more effectively.  This class is ideal if you have finished a puppy class and want to continue working with your dog in a class setting, or if you have a newly acquired dog and need some tools to work with.
